This class is ideal for those who want their children to practice effective and inclusive ways of dealing with conflict while enjoying a traditional martial arts experience. Children practice Aikido techniques, falling and tumbling skills, and taking action that is centered and confident. Other Aikido-related activities and games that encourage awareness, respect, and cooperation with circumstances are included in our curriculum. It's the perfect after school activity for kids 7-12. The class runs on an ongoing basis year-round.

My children (now 17 and 12) have trained at Aikido of San Diego for six years despite the fact we live quite a distance away. Familiar with many other forms of martial arts, we chose aikido for two reasons: it is an excellent martial art for adults and children, and it is grounded in a spiritual philosophy whose benefits extend far beyond the mat into everyday life. We chose Aikido of San Diego because it's the best dojo in the county and Dave Goldberg is the best Sensei around!

"Action Hour" for Children 5-6
|
Children 5-6 years old will really enjoy this class as they build foundational skills in body and mind, and use much of their seemingly endless energy.
Kids learn...
• Rolling, tumbling, and falling skills
• Balance and centering
• Cooperation with circumstances
• To work with obstacles
• To play intensely, and by the rules
Activities, games, and challenges are presented in playful ways to capture the interest of little ones while building valuable skills for life and future Aikido training. This class is co-instructed by Dave Goldberg Sensei, and his wife, Deanna. She is also an Aikido practitioner, and a school counselor by profession. Dave and Deanna Goldberg are the parents of twin boys in this age group.

Action Hour is for 5-6 year-olds and runs in 8-week sessions on Fridays from 4:15 to 5:00 (Children are welcome to stay until 5:15 for some free play on our big mat). The investment is only $90 for the class. The next session begins August 8th. Secure online registration is below. The class is capped at 12, so register early.
