This class is ideal for San Diego families who want their children to practice effective and non-violent ways of dealing with conflict while enjoying a traditional martial arts experience. Children practice Aikido techniques, falling and tumbling skills, and taking action that is centered and confident. Aikido-related activities and games that encourage awareness, respect, and cooperation with circumstances are also included in our curriculum. It's the perfect after school activity for kids 8-13, and an enduring investment in your child. The class runs on an ongoing basis year-round. Parents have the option of watching class, dropping off and picking up, or using our complimentary Wi-Fi. We welcome you to download the Children's Program Hanbook (PDF).

My children (now 17 and 12) have trained at Aikido of San Diego for six years despite the fact we live quite a distance away. Familiar with many other forms of martial arts, we chose aikido for two reasons: it is an excellent martial art for adults and children, and it is grounded in a spiritual philosophy whose benefits extend far beyond the mat into everyday life. We chose Aikido of San Diego because it's the best dojo in the county and Dave Goldberg is the best Sensei around!

Children's Aikido Action Hour (5-7 year-olds)

Children 5-7 years old really enjoy this class as they build foundational skills in body and mind, and use much of their seemingly endless energy.

• Rolling, tumbling, and falling skills
• Centering and balance
• Cooperation with circumstances
• Blending with obstacles
• Building body-mind awareness
• Having fun!

Activities, games, and challenges are presented in playful ways to capture the interest of little ones while building valuable skills for life, fitness, and future Aikido training. This class is instructed by Dave Goldberg Sensei who has twin boys that recently graduated from this class. For this class parents are expected to be at the dojo during class. Enjoy watching class or make use of our complimentary Wi-Fi.

Action Hour is for 5-7 year-olds, and runs in 8-week sessions on Tuesdays from 4:15 to 5:00 (Parents and children are welcome to stay until 5:15 for some free play on our big mat). The investment is only $100 for the class, and includes a uniform the first time you sign up.
