"The art of peace begins with you. Work on yourself and your task in the art of peace. Everyone has a spirit that can be refined, a body that can be trained in some manner, a suitable path to follow. You are here for no other purpose than to realize your sanctity and manifest your inner enlightenment. Foster peace in your own life, and then apply the art to all that you encounter."
Morihei Ueshiba "O-Sensei"
Founder of Aikido

This dojo retreat and outdoor training in the Cuyamaca Mountains of San Diego is just one of the many kinds of events available to dojo members. Aikido of San Diego is a thriving dojo community, offering seminars, workshops, open-mat practice sessions, and social events.
In Aikido we train to reduce our habitual reactivity to situations, and to resolve conflict in non-destructive ways. Aikido training is not about strength, force, or extreme athleticism. It is available for all levels of fitness, all ages, and all body types. Aikido is a great activity for families, couples, and anyone wishing to develop as a more centered, grounded, freer person. We hope you will join us!
I started training a bit after I started graduate school and realized I needed to implement some kind of exercise regimen for my health. Going to the gym really, really, did not appeal. I decided that I wanted to try something new and to push the limits of what I thought I could do – to expand my comfort zones a little.
Aikido is what I found after some research into the different types of martial art classes available in the area. I decided to give it a shot. I kept on training because it turned out to be a really good way to de-stress in between long hours in the laboratory – and because it's fun.
Observers & visiting Aikidoka are always welcome. The dojo is 2 minutes from I-15 and I-8,
