I chose Aikido from a recommendation from my husband, yet I learned on my own the benefits and challenges of Aikido—both mentally and physically. I was also looking for a complementary martial art to my yoga practice and fitness regime. I chose ASD not just for location, but also for the camaraderie of the dojo. I look forward to coming to class. My fellow aikidoists each bring a special element to each training session. Also, it's a great social group and we enjoy each other's company. Aikido has brought some calm to my life, not just with the physical release, but also with the mental training. I apply the Aikido principles to the workplace and relationships. "To control aggression without inflicting injury is the Art of Peace." What a way to live!

I chose ASD because of the inclusivity of its community. In my close to six years of practice I have always felt that ASD was a place of open learning where people are more than willing to assist you in the progression of your practice. Despite ASD not being geographically close to me it has become a place close to my heart.
