Aikido for adults

Adults enrolled in our Aikido of San Diego (ASD) membership have access to all of the following classes:

Evening aikido class with Dave Goldberg Sensei: with decades of aikido instruction under his belt, Dave offers classes suitable for students with any level of experience in aikido.

Noon aikido class with Maru Melcon: also open for any level of experience, Maru enjoys detangling the topic at hand and loves finding connections to real life applications.

Evening aikido class with Linda Eskin: with a passion for supporting beginners, Linda tends to focus on fundamental topics such as footwork and ukemi.

Evening aikido class with rotation of instructors: with Megan Palm, Karen Kustedjo, Scott Bjerke, Marco Martinez and Maru Melcon rotating in different weeks, get a feel for different perspectives of aikido.

Meditation with Maru Melcon: start the day with a mindful moment.

Bokken class with Karen Kustedjo: warm up learning basics of bokken (wooden sword) movement and partner practice. Sometimes we may spontaneously go to the park behind the dojo to practice.

Weapons class with Dave Goldberg: in this class we work with a jo (wooden staff), normally doing partner practice. Sometimes we may decide to go to the park behind the dojo to practice.

Morning aikido class for adults and teens: this class is engaging for a wide range of ages and may be offered by our staff instructors and/or guest instructors from other schools.

Open mat: people can grab a training partner, ask questions, or work on whatever they want. This space is also used for exam preparation.

The adult membership fee is $120/month. We do offer discounts for current college/university students, active military members, and families enrolled. To inquire about our discounts or any other questions, please contact us here.

Aikido for youth

Kids class: This fun, multi-dimensional class teaches kids to embody more effective and affirming ways of meeting challenges. Through Aikido, and related games and activities, children learn to frame themselves better and connect to their positive powers. They have fun, and practice skills for safety, self-awareness, and more centered action.

This class is designed for children 6-11 years old. Enrollment is open all year round!

Kids membership: can attend kids classes for $90/month

Teens class: Teens need their own space and attention, and we have a class just for them! In this class we go deeper into the embodiment of Aikido technique and principle. Our focus is on how appropriately and effectively adolescents frame themselves and extend energy when challenged.

This class is tailored for 12-year-old children and older, until they are ready to move to adult class. Enrollment is open all year round!

Teen membership: can attend teens classes and open mat and be part of our complementary teen mentorship program for $100/month
